What (or who) made you want to be a designer?
Kristina - I've always loved the idea of making rooms beautiful and love the thrill of the perfect find
- From the time I was a little girl, I have always enjoyed decorating whether it was my dollhouse or own room. I was an art history major in college and love beautiful things with history.
What is your favorite color palette right now? (can be paint color, PMS color, or whatever!)
We just completed a dining room in which we covered the walls with a peacock blue grasscloth and the banquettes with a peacock blue velvet. We injected a jolt of chartreuse on the contrasting welt on the banquettes that we thought added a sophisticated chic element.
What is one thing that will never go out of style?
Rattan is making a big comeback right now and will always be a classic, whether on furniture, a mirror frame or lighting.
What is one thing you wish would go out of style!?
All grey rooms.
When choosing hardware for a project, what is typically your metal of choice?
Definitely brass!
Where do you go to for inspiration?
We love to go to art museums for inspiration. We both recently saw the Hilma af Klint exhibit at the Guggenheim and her use of color was magical. We also both love to travel whether to the beach or city - the colors of the sea and sky, the patterns and textures of local textiles always provide inspiration and ideas to us.
Where are you traveling next?
Kerri just got back from Santa Fe where the art galleries, landscape and adobe houses were candy for the eye. Next she is off to the woods of New Hampshire for some R&R.
Kristina recently was in Barbados where the saturated colors of the local houses provided endless color inspiration. Next she will plant her toes on the sands of Nantucket.
What was your very first car?
Kerri - white Acura Integra with no AC, that I had to drive in the sweltering heat of NC in college.
- white Mercedes Benz that ran on diesel that you could hear two miles away.
Who is your Style icon?
Kristina - Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy
Kerri - Audrey Hepburn
Who is your favorite band/singer?
Kristina - U2, always
Kerri - what era of my life are we talking about? My first love was The Smiths, now I'm loving Pink and Lady Gaga
What is currently in your shopping cart?
Kerri - lime green Swedish Hasbeens, floral Ulla Johnson dress, gold Soko earrings
Kristina - new Stark rug for my family room, white flared jeans

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
Kerri - follow your passion, speak up!
Kristina - take more pictures, be appreciative for what you have been given
