Designer Spotlight - Liz Goldberg

 Photography By Michael Moss
What (or who) made you want to be a designer?
Since a very young age, both of my grandmothers and my mother always entertained. Each brought a unique sense of style into my life and allowed me to gain a sense of appreciation of hosting and how to customize your house to truly become a home.
What is your favorite color palette right now? (can be paint color, PMS color, or whatever!)
We currently are all about the neutrals, incorporating many different textures and materials with subtle tones rather than bold colors.
What is one thing that will never go out of style?
Marble and statement lighting!
What is one thing you wish would go out of style!?
Polished gold
When choosing hardware for a project, what is typically your metal of choice?
Patinated brass, flat black and polished nickel
Where do you go to for inspiration?
I love to travel as much as possible. When I'm in Raleigh I find my day to day inspiration reading magazines and scrolling through instagram feeds is always a great way to get inspired! When I’m abroad, I get inspiration from farmers markets, museums, restaurants where locals eat, and strolling the streets. I find that while traveling, even the smallest details catch my eye and stimulate my creative side.
Where are you traveling next?
I am heading to Miami next month and while some much needed R&R is in store, I will be visiting the Miami Design District to seek inspiration for an upcoming project. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to the design district and I am eager to check out this gallery-focused, modern and sleek spot.
What was your very first car?
My very first car was a dark green Jeep Grand Cherokee. There was a big Dave Matthews Band sticker on the back of my jeep and I thought it was super hip since we went to all the concerts. Fast forward to today, I drive a big black Tahoe that is my work schlepping mobile and I would not be caught dead with a bumper sticker on my car.
Who is your Style icon?
I don’t feel as though I have one person I emulate as I appreciate so many different styles. However, if I had to narrow it down, I would say it’s a mix between Nate Berkus & Kelly Wearstler.

Who is your favorite band/singer?
My taste in music is very eclectic. At the moment, the following beats are on repeat on my Spotify - Van Morrison. Ray LaMontagne, Beyonce, Tift Merritt, and Miguel.
What is currently in your shopping cart?
Denim shorts, summer dresses, the perfect white T, summer lipgloss tones, and a few home accessories.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
I would say figure out systems and processes early in the game. Leverage relationships with designers, reach out for a mentor, and be confident.
