What (or who) made you want to be a designer?
My mother was certainly my biggest influence in becoming a designer. I watched her create beautiful spaces during my childhood, and she started her own interior design business when I went to college. Having a strong background in art, I saw this as an opportunity to "paint" a room with color, texture and space planning.
What is your favorite color palette right now?
I am always drawn to the blues, and I can't get enough of the slate blue, soldier blue and teal palettes right now. I also love using an unexpected color in a room design.
What is one thing that will never go out of style?
Animal prints. All day every day.
What is one thing you wish would go out of style!?
"cold shoulder sleeves", fast and cheap furniture and clients who think they are designers because of the internet.
When choosing hardware for a project, what is typically your metal of choice?
Brass, brushed brass, antique brass. I love how these tones immediately warm a space.

Where do you go to for inspiration?
I am constantly inspired by fashion, art and travel. I am drawn to contemporary lines, artwork and spaces, and I try to infuse a little (or a lot) into each project. I am also inspired by other creatives and Instagram is a candy store of inspiration on a daily basis.
Where are you traveling next?
Africa! My family and I are going on a safari, and I cannot wait to see the colors, animals and traditions of the people there.
What was your very first car?
White Jeep Cherokee. Gosh I loved that car.
Who is your Style icon?
Kelly Wearstler is an icon for both her interiors and "street style." I love everything that she does as well as her effortless look. I also love to see what Lupita Nyong'o will wear on the red carpet, and Kate Middleton can do no wrong in my eyes. I love her style and the way her clothes fit her impeccably.
Who is your favorite band/singer?
I'm an Alternative 80's girl with The Smiths, New Order, REM and Talking Heads at the top of the list. Currently, Panic! at the Disco and Mumford and Sons are on rotation when I'm painting.

What is currently in your shopping cart?
I have a green quilted jacket from J Crew that I'm thinking about for the safari and a precious dress by Rhode Resort that I'm drooling over from Hampden Clothing.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to combine my love of art and interior design earlier! I thought that I needed to pick one career or the other, but I am now able to do both!
